Basic Honey Bee Biology

February 3 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

This hour-long class will cover the basic of basic honeybee biology that is needed to be a good beekeeper. It would be silly for a class teaching about successful tomato grown to start with “leaves photosynthesize” because we when been ingrained with basic plant biology since we were little kids. This isn’t the case with honeybees so the basics it is to get use started!

At the end of this lecture, you will be understand the following:

  • The lifecycle of the bee,
  • Know who is in the hive and
  • The basic roles of each bee.

Following the talk Patrick Harrison will take your questions that pertain to this class.

To get the most out of this class it is recommended for serious learner to read pages 31-51 of Keeping Honey Bees Second Edition, by Malcolm T. Sanford & Richard E Bonne

This is the first of an eight-part short course on honeybees. In order to get your certificate of completion at the end of the course you must per register.
